Courses offered:

HIST 273: Rome, the City: Ancient to Renaissance

3 credit hours

An introduction to the art, architecture and the history of Rome to 1650. Site visits focus on ancient Roman monuments, early Christian symbolism, medieval churches and the centrality of Rome as a Christian center from Peter to the papacy. Offered as a study abroad course.

PLSC 312: Islam and the West

3 credit hours

Examination of the historical, cultural, religious, economic and political interactions between the Western and Islamic worlds. Focuses on the place of Muslims in Europe, especially questions the identity and politics. Offered as a study abroad course.

FUSE 370: INTERNATIONAL IMMERSION CAPSTONE

3 credit hours

Prerequisites: FUSE 320, FUSE 350, GREE 101; or FUSE 320, FUSE 350, FREN 101 or SOCI 360, FUSE 320, FUSE 350; or, PHIL 316, HIST 205, ENGL 212; or HIST 273, PLSC 312, RELG 202; or HIST 223, FREN 102, FREN 201
This course will allow students to engage their study-abroad experience and coursework to respond to focused issues relevant to the study-abroad location and culture. Students will devise project-based responses expressed through written and/or creative projects.

Program Dates: May 21 – June 22, 2025

Estimated Program fee: $3,240

Includes: group tours, entrance fees, housing in twin/triple room apartments in the historic center, activity fees, health insurance, 6-7 group meals, day trip to Orvieto, some local transportation, administration fees and faculty expenses.

Estimated Tuition and Fees (6 credit hrs.): $2,110

Estimated Personal Expenses: $2,890

Includes: Round-trip airfare, non-program meals & incidentals and local transport.  Please Note: These estimated expenses vary depending on personal travel and shopping preferences. The faculty can help each student plan a budget individually based on personal preferences.

Program Fee Only Payment Deadlines:

  1. To reserve a spot in the program, a non-refundable deposit of $500 is required. Spaces on the trip are limited and on a first-deposit in basis. (Also, fill out the study abroad electronic application online). 
  2. A second housing supplement payment of $300 due September 15, 2024
  3. A third payment of $500 is due by December 1, 2024.
  4. The final payment of around $1,940 is due February 1, 2025.

Pay by credit card online using the link on the Drury Study-Abroad website describing the Rome summer 2025 trip.  A 2.85% fee will be added to credit card payments.

For check payments: check made out to Drury University (please add “Rome, Summer 2025” on memo line) – and pay in the Business office in Burnham 100.

Enrollment in the program is limited and is based on good academic standing with the Dean of Students and the Provost’s office
