The unlawful possession, use, or distribution of illicit drugs and alcohol by students or employees is prohibited on University property and in conjunction with university activities. Violation of this policy by students is a violation of Drury University discipline code, which may result in dismissal, suspension, or imposition of a lesser sanction. Sanctions may also include referrals for appropriate rehabilitation. Violations of the policy by employees can result in disciplinary action up to and including discharge. Violators may be brought before the local court system. Drury University security officers will confront and may detain any persons they see possessing, distributing, or consuming alcoholic beverages on Drury University property. Springfield police officers will enforce Springfield city ordinances and Missouri state statutes.
24 hours a day, 7 days a week, Drury security officers are available to escort you. The service helps make sure you don’t have to walk on campus alone, and it’s a key factor in protecting yourself from crime. Call (417) 873-7911 or use any campus security call box to request an escort.
Security officers will accompany you from any campus location to any other location on campus; in some situations, the officer can accompany you a short distance off-campus.
The unauthorized use or possession of firearms, explosives, dangerous chemicals, or other weapons on university property is prohibited.
This policy shall be adopted by universal consent and administrative mandate from the President and the Leadership Team to ensure full and complete implementation and enforcement.
The purpose of this Key Control Policy is to help protect the life, property, and security of Drury University and all its occupants. This policy will outline the process for management of the keying system and assignment of keys on campus. This policy does not apply to students residing in university residential units (dorms, apartments, houses). A separate policy exists for residential students. It can be found in the Community Standards Handbook.
