APA Formatting

APA (American Psychological Association) style is most commonly used to cite sources within the social sciences, to include the field of education. The Drury School of Education and Child Development requires use of APA formatting in all undergraduate and graduate courses. All education students are expected to follow the most current APA guidelines as presented by the Purdue OWL (Online Writing Lab).

Educator Disposition Assessment

The Educator Disposition Assessment must be completed for the following practicums & student teaching:

When completing the EDA be sure to complete all forms and include the name of the student being evaluated.

Practicum Evaluations

Practicum Evaluations must be completed for the following practicums:

  • EDUC 208
  • EDUC 303
  • EDUC 401
  • EDUC 402
  • EDUC 660
  • EDUC 661

Hourly Log

Students must complete the following number of hours for their practicum placements. Cooperating Teachers will need to verify the number of hours logged.

  • EDUC 208 (30 contact hours)
  • EDUC 303 (45 contact hours)
  • EDUC 401 (25 contact hours)
  • EDUC 402 (25 contact hours
  • EDUC 660 (25 contact hours -Elementary focused)
  • EDUC 661 (25 contact hours – MS/Secondary focused)

Upon completion of practicum hours, the Cooperating Teacher must upload a file of the hourly log with their verification of hours as complete or incomplete.

Community Advisory Board

The Community Advisory Board to Education meets each semester to discuss the initiatives of the School of Education and Child Development. Members of the Springfield community and beyond meet to collaborate and share insights on education on behalf of the children and youth in our community. Meetings take place each fall and spring.
