Say Their Names: Black Lives Matter will be a twofold exhibition. We invite artists to submit photographs of the Black Lives Matter protests that have taken place across the United States (and beyond). The show seeks to highlight citizens who have taken to the streets to peacefully protest violence and racism against people of color. In addition to documentary photographs of BLM protests, we invite artists to submit works created in honor of specific individuals who have been brutalized or killed because of racism (throughout history). Areas of the gallery will be devoted to memorials of these individuals. The BLM protest photographs will be exhibited in between the memorials. Accepted artists to the show will be invited to donate a work that will be auctioned with 100% of proceeds going to Drury scholarships for African American students. Accepted artists will not be required to donate works to be part of the show, it is purely voluntary in nature.

There is no fee to enter this exhibition. All entries must be received by December 11, 2020. Late entries will not be accepted. Shipment and delivery fees for accepted works will be the responsibility of the artist. Works arriving at the gallery without prepaid shipping will not be returned and become the property of Drury University in not picked up after 4 weeks of the end of the exhibition.
This exhibition is open to artists over the age of 18 living in the United States.
Professor Rebecca Miller has served as the Pool Art Center Gallery director for 11 years and has taught art and art history courses for the past 22 years. Her works have been exhibited in over 70 museums and galleries across the United States.
The exhibition will be selected from digital image files only. Images should accurately represent the works entered and be JPEG or PDF format, no larger than 3MB.
It is the intention of the gallery that all acceptances will be considered final. However, the gallery reserves the right to delete from the exhibition any artwork that does not conform to the entry specifications.
All accepted works must be delivered to the gallery by Friday, January 22, 2021. All fees for shipped works are the responsibility of the artists and should include a prepaid UPS or FedEx return shipping label or they will not be returned. Stamps should not be included since the post office will not accept stamped boxes over a certain weight. After the close of the exhibition works will be shipped back within two weeks and hand deliveries must be picked up within four weeks or they will become property of the gallery. Upon notification of acceptance to the exhibition, further delivery instructions will be provided.
The Pool Art Center Gallery will exercise professional care in handling all entries, but cannot assume liability for loss or damage, however caused, while works are in the gallery’s possession or in transit. Accepted entries will be insured, while on exhibit, for the amount indicated on the Entry Form, subject to the standard policy provisions. Works NFS should still include insurance amount or they will be valued at $50.00.
The Pool Art Center Gallery reserves the right to photograph and reproduce all artworks accepted for the exhibition regardless of copyright. Images may be used for exhibition brochures, educational, and/or publicity purposes only.
