Springfield, MO., May 7, 2024 – Drury University is pleased to announce a partnership with Mission University that provides Mission students a means to study engineering through Drury’s new program, starting this fall. Students will take classes in math, physics, and engineering at Drury while working on their associate degrees at Mission.  This arrangement will allow students to shorten their time to graduation when they transfer to Drury. This partnership is a prime example of how Drury continues to work with local universities and transfer students alike to ensure exceptional and timely outcomes.

Drury’s innovative mechanical and electrical engineering programs engage students with design classes throughout the curriculum and short courses on business and technical topics to provide students with a powerful advantage for career advancement. “Drury’s engineering programs will graduate students with outstanding technical skills coupled with the communication and cultural skills needed to excel in the workplace and advance to leadership positions,” stated Dr. Beth Harville, University Provost.

The engineering program, directed by Dr. Robert Throne offers mechanical and electrical engineering degrees. “With over 70 years of combined teaching and experience as accreditation evaluators, Dr. Lorainne Olson and I have built the engineering program from the ground up based on special insights from working in and observing other universities,” Throne said. “The program will feature built-in labs or projects that apply theory to practice to give students the hands-on experience necessary for electrical and mechanical engineering.”

President Mark Milioni of Mission University, formerly Baptist Bible College, also shares his excitement regarding the partnership with Drury’s new engineering program. “Students would experience a mix of life and academics at both institutions, each capitalizing on their strengths,” he said regarding the experience that students will have with this program. “Through this partnership, we aspire to prepare a new generation of engineers who will be equipped to tackle global challenges. Together, we are committed to fostering a dynamic learning environment that nurtures creativity and excellence in engineering. Mission University is eager to enter into this new partnership.”

The new program will be housed in the fully renovated former Breech School of Business Administration building on Drury’s Springfield campus. For more information about the engineering program, visit.drury.edu/engineering/ or contact Dr. Throne at rthrone@drury.edu.
