Springfield, MO, September 13, 2024 — Drury University is pleased to announce the inauguration of Dr. Jeff Frederick as its new president, marking a significant milestone in the institution’s history in its first year after its sesquicentennial year. Events celebrating Dr. Frederick’s inauguration will take place throughout the week of Oct. 21, with the inauguration ceremony held at Stone Chapel on Friday, October 25, 2024.
On Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at 11 a.m., a panel discussion on civil discourse will be held at the O’Reilly Enterprise Center in the Judy Thompson Executive Conference Center. The event is open to the public and will be moderated by Dr. Daniel Ponder, L.E. Meador Endowed Chair and Professor of Political Science. Panelists include Springfield City Councilman Abe McGull, Andrew Crocker from Be Civil, Be Heard, Joan Gentry from the League of Women Voters, and Charles Taylor, Communication Professor and former Springfield Public Schools board member.
“On behalf of the Drury Board of Trustees, I want to congratulate Dr. Frederick on his upcoming inauguration,” said Walt George, Chair of the Board of Trustees. “As a historian, Jeff fully grasps the enormity of the opportunities that lay before him. His focus on the student experience, faculty participation, financial discipline, and advancing Drury’s role in the greater Springfield area will set the university on a path to success for the next 150 years.”
