SPRINGFIELD, MO, September 17, 2024 — Drury University is excited to introduce the Drury Springfield Promise, a new initiative that reinforces Drury’s commitment to the Greater Springfield region. Designed to make higher education more affordable for bright students regardless of their financial situation, the Springfield Promise will provide additional resources to students within a commutable distance of Drury.
There are two components of the Promise: First, every student who gains admission to Drury University’s Day School, within the eight-county region, will receive an additional $2,000 Springfield Promise Scholarship on top of any academic scholarships they may qualify to receive. Secondly, admitted students who demonstrate exceptional financial need (Pell Grant eligible) will qualify for an additional Springfield Promise Grant which will limit their out-of-pocket expenses to $3,000 for tuition and required student fees. Students who wish to have a residential experience will incur additional charges for room and board.
“Generations of Greater Springfield students have depended on Drury for a world-class education that has prepared them for a meaningful and fulfilling life of accomplishment and service,” said Dr. Jeff Frederick, President of Drury University. “Now more than ever, a personalized education that prepares our graduates with an inventory of market-ready practical skills and three or more credentials is needed. With the Drury Springfield Promise, this exceptional education full of leadership experiences, internships, small class sizes, travel possibilities and other dynamic student opportunities is tailored to be more affordable than ever. If you thought you couldn’t afford to be at Drury, the Drury Springfield Promise will give you a reason to think again.”
Starting with students who will enroll in the Fall of 2025, the Drury Springfield Promise is open to high school graduates from the eight-county region, including Greene, Christian, Dallas, Polk, Taney, Stone, Webster, and Lawrence (including all of Monett). Homeschooled students from this region also qualify for the Promise. Transfer students including Ozarks Technical Community College associate degree holders, Drury GO graduates, and transfer students from other 4 year institutions, but who graduated from high schools within the eight-county region, are also eligible.
Other eligibility requirements for the Springfield Promise Grant include a valid FAFSA filed by February 1, 2025, and for students to not be NCAA-recruited athletes. The Springfield Promise Grant also does not cover required course fees.
“Without a doubt, smart students from this region have written off Drury as being unaffordable due to the perceived high cost of attendance,” stated Dr. Kevin Kropf, Executive Vice President of Enrollment Management, Marketing & Communications. “The Drury Springfield Promise is a reminder that Drury offers a transformative education while also providing significant financial resources to ensure every bright student in this area has access to the powerful advantages of a Drury education.”
This program is part of Drury’s continued dedication to fostering community connections and providing local students with life-changing educational opportunities. Other examples of this dedication include the Community Partnership Grants and other elements of Drury Fusion.
