SPRINGFIELD, Mo., April 10, 2025 – Veteran broadcast journalist John Quiñones will serve as the Joseph H. George Distinguished Lecture Series keynote speaker at Drury University’s fourth annual Fusion Day, Wednesday, April 23 on the Drury campus.

Fusion Day is Drury’s annual showcase designed to highlight student scholarship, research, and creative work.  More than 300 students will discuss their original work with members of the Drury and Springfield Communities.

Quiñones is a seven-time Emmy Award-winning broadcast journalist for ABC and the host of the popular What Would You Do? news magazine, now in its 17th season. A native of San Antonio, Texas, Quiñones has been a part of the anchor desk at 20/20 and Primetime, as well as a correspondent for Good Morning America and Nightline in his 40-plus years at ABC. In 2023, Quiñones was inducted into the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences “Golden Circle” in recognition of his distinguished service in the television industry.

Quinones is scheduled to speak at the O’Reilly Enterprise Center in the Judy Thompson Executive Conference Center from 2:30-3:30 p.m.

In addition to Quiñones, Drury will also welcome Brandy Enver Harris ‘08 back to campus as the alumni speaker. Harris currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer for the Boys & Girls Club of Springfield. A former high school teacher, Harris has been involved in the Boys & Girls Club since 2011. She will speak in the JTECC beginning at 10:50 a.m.

  • 9:00 – 10:40 a.m. – Certificate Capstone Panel (OEC classrooms)
  • 10:50 – 11:50 a.m. – Alumni Speaker Brandy Harris (Judy Thompson Executive Conference Center)
  • 11:30 a.m. – 1:15 p.m. – Food Trucks (OEC parking lot)
  • 1:15 – 2:15 p.m. – Fuse Talks (JTECC)
  • 2:15 – 2:30 p.m. – Beverages and Snacks (JTECC)
  • 2:30 – 3:30 p.m. – Joseph H. George Distinguished Lecture Series Keynote Speaker John Quiñones (JTECC)
  • 3:45 – 5 p.m. – Poster Session (O’Reilly Family Event Center)
  • 5 p.m. – Pizza Contest (Plaster Gallery)

All Fusion Day events are free and open to the public.
