Kappa Mu Epsilon

About the Organization
Kappa Mu Epsilon is a specialized honor society in Mathematics. KME was founded in 1931 to promote the interest of mathematics among undergraduate students. Its chapters are located in colleges and universities of recognized standing which offer a strong mathematics major. The chapters’ members are selected from students of mathematics and other closely related fields who have maintained standards of scholarship, have professional merit, and have attained academic distinction.

Meetings: Kappa Mu Epsilon meets weekly on a Friday from 3-4pm in the OEC room

How to Join:

  1. The student must have completed at least six credit hours of Mathematics
    including Calculus I and a Mathematics course beyond Calculus I.
  2. Their overall grade average in mathematics must be at least 3.0 for all
    completed courses, assuming A is 4, B is 3, C is 2, D is 1 and F is 0.
  3. A transfer student must meet all the basic requirements of a student, but is not
    required to have completed Calculus I.
  4. They must be a major or minor in mathematics or have indicated their interest by applying for membership to one of the members of the Chapter Council. If a candidate does not meet all requirements, but has completed one college mathematics course, they are eligible to become an associate member.
  5. Students meeting above requirements will be invited to join, upon providing the nationally required membership fee ($20) students will partake in initiation ceremony to officially be admitted to the chapter.
