PAS 622: Professional Practice III: Medical Ethics and Health Policy

This course is an introduction to health care ethics, law, and policy. It is the intent of the course to encourage and facilitate an appreciation for the inseparable relationship between medicine and ethics. Students will be introduced to key ethical obligations and challenges common in medical practice. They will identify sources of ethical values commonly used in ethical reasoning, and apply a systematic approach to clinical ethical practice. Students will explore ways in which health care policy, legislation, and care delivery models impact the practice of medicine and provision of healthcare to the US population. Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory grading.
