Juan Andres Rodriguez-Nieto, Ph.D.

Associate Professor of Finance

Dr. Juan Andres Rodriguez-Nieto is a tenured associate professor of finance at Drury University, where he joined the faculty in the fall of 2018. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance from the University of Texas—Rio Grande Valley. Additionally, he earned a Master of Business Administration and a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Applied Finance and Economics from Southern Oregon University. His academic journey began with a bachelor’s degree in mining engineering from the Universidad de Guanajuato in Mexico.

Before transitioning to academia, Dr. Rodriguez gained valuable professional experience as a Mining Engineer in Mexico, specializing in rock mechanics, operations management, and quality control. He also has over 15 years of managerial experience in higher education administration, where he focused on workforce training programs and student services at both the University of Texas at Brownsville and The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.

His research interests encompass behavioral finance, international finance, investments, energy economics, and corporate finance. He has presented his work at numerous conferences, including the Academy of Economics and Finance and the Southwestern Finance Association. He has published in respected journals such as the Financial Markets and Portfolio Management Journal and the Academy of Economics and Finance Journal.

Beyond his academic pursuits, Dr. Rodriguez actively engages with students and the community as the Sociedad de Orgullo Latino (SOL) and Catholic Campus Ministries faculty advisor. He is also an Eucharistic Minister at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton.
