Prior to joining Drury University as an adjunct instructor for the Breech School in 1989, Dr. Bill Prince practiced law. He began his legal career clerking for a judge on the Missouri Court of Appeals Southern District. He then worked for several years for a firm in Springfield focusing on corporate law, estate planning and taxation before starting his own practice working with small business and estate planning. He currently serves as the Family and Juvenile Court Administrator and Chief Juvenile Officer for the 31st Judicial Circuit. He no longer actively practices law but has evolved into a bit of bureaucrat dealing on a daily basis with human resource matters, budget issues and state and local policy concerns.
Dr. Prince was appointed in 2016 by the Governor to the Missouri Child Abuse and Neglect Review Board and in 2020 was appointed by the Missouri Speaker of the House to the Blue-Ribbon Legislative Committee on Juvenile Justice. He also serves as a member of the board of directors of the Missouri Juvenile Justice Association where he also serves as the legislative policy committee chair. Dr. Prince has testified before the Missouri General Assembly on several occasions related to legislative issues. He enjoys working in the political arena and is particularly interested in the role business plays in that political environment.
Dr. Prince received the American Bar Association’s John Minor Wisdom Public Service and Professionalism Award as well as the Missouri Bar Association Pro Bono Publico Award. Additionally, he is a Certified Court Manager (CCM) through the National Center for State Courts having completed a series of courses related to human resources, management, budget preparation and execution and technology and project management.
