Trent Webb is Chair of the Intellectual Property Litigation Practice Group at Shook, Hardy & Bacon. He practices exclusively in the areas of patent, trademark, copyright and trade secret litigation. He has been lead trial counsel in more than 150 intellectual property cases and manages a practice group of more than 60 attorneys. He has won jury trials on behalf of plaintiffs and defendants throughout the country involving a wide range of technologies, such as telecommunications, software, medical devices, consumer products, videogame technologies, power generation and healthcare technologies.

Trent often has represented individuals and large companies as plaintiffs in patent infringement litigation, obtaining more than $1 billion in jury verdicts and settlements on behalf of his clients. He also defends mid-sized to large companies in patent litigation, and has obtained multiple favorable defense verdicts in jury trials across the country. He and his team also have won many summary judgment and other dispositive motion victories for his clients.

Trent has lead Shook Hardy’s patent litigation practice for nearly 20 years. He has served on the firm’s Executive Committee for 12 years. He is ranked in Band 1 by Chambers, and has won numerous professional awards, including Best Lawyers in America – Patent Litigation (Lawyer of the Year 2023, 2024), Benchmark Litigation (National Litigation Star 2024), The POWER List – Missouri (2022, 2023), America’s Top 100 High Stakes Litigators (2019), and others.

Trent received his B.A. from Drury in 1989, with a double major in biology and chemistry. He received his law degree from the University of Missouri, Kansas City, in 1992.
