Assistant Professor of Architecture in Design Innovation

The Hammons School of Architecture (HSA) at Drury University invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Architecture in Design Innovation whose teaching and scholarly work focus on the integration of contemporary design technology in teaching and scholarship. This full-time, 9-month, tenure-track position starts August 2025. 

HSA seeks talented individuals who advance architectural pedagogy, discourse, and practice through technological innovation in design. In particular, those who investigate issues of representation, making, process, and/or analytics, including – but not limited to – advanced representation, simulation, artificial intelligence, material and construction systems, outcome-based design, design integration, building performance, environmental modeling, and ecological design.

The successful candidate will join a faculty of colleagues dedicated to the craft of teaching and the preparation of design leaders. The individual will play a key role in furthering the school’s mission of design excellence through relevant scholarship and innovative educational contributions to the university and the disciplines of architecture.

Candidates must hold a graduate degree in architecture and should have an articulated line of inquiry with the potential to advance disciplinary knowledge. Integral to this position are contributions in teaching, scholarship, and service. Ideal candidates exhibit the ability to effectively teach a variety of courses at multiple levels of the curriculum including design studios, expertise-related electives, core classes, and possibly general or interdisciplinary offerings. The ability to develop a credible dossier of peer-reviewed scholarship through recognized design work, publication, research, exhibitions, funding or other means is expected.

HSA offers a NAAB-accredited, first-professional, M.Arch. degree in the context of a small private liberal arts university. The school has a historical and ongoing commitment to providing exemplary professional preparation within a broad and interdisciplinary curriculum recognized for fostering critical thinking and skilled stewardship. All HSA students study abroad, participate in professional internships, and attain minors and/or certificates that construct an individualized path through a uniquely interconnected program.

Visiting Assistant Professor of Management

The Breech School of Business Administration at Drury University invites applicants for a full- time Instructor or Visiting Assistant Professor of Management position beginning August 2025. This position requires teaching management courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels. All Faculty carry a teaching load of seven or eight courses per academic year, depending on faculty’s AACSB classification.

Candidates who can teach various courses across the business program and are invested in developing dynamic curricula are encouraged to apply. Candidates who have scholarship and teaching interests in some combination of the following areas will receive additional consideration: principles of management, project management, business simulation, international management, HRM, leading people in organizations, data analytics, and/or MBA / Graduate courses in management.

Teaching

Faculty should demonstrate exemplary teaching in their discipline. Teaching includes content delivery, student mentoring, and assessment of student learning. All Faculty carry a teaching load of seven courses per academic year. Additionally, Faculty are responsible for:

  • Demonstrating awareness of and responding to the diverse needs of all students
  • Displaying a thorough knowledge of both the curriculum and the subjectmatter
  • Facilitating instructional materials and providing guidance and feedback to all students
  • Addressing plagiarism concerns according to universitypolicy
  • Collaborating with student-facing institutional personnel to enhance the student experience

Service

Service responsibilities are expected of all full-time faculty.

  • Contribute to university-wide and college committees
  • Collaborate with college or university teams to develop and implement newinitiatives
  • Assist with program review (gathering data, writing reports, creating action plans for enhancement)
  • Provide support for accreditation and licensure efforts to ensure courses meet career and discipline goals

Professional Development and Scholarship

Faculty are expected to engage in development activities related to the university’s primary focus as a teaching institution, which may include discovery, integration, application, and/or teaching, and participate in external discipline specific conferences and professional communities.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • MBA or master’s degree, in a related field, from a regionally accredited institution
  • Evidence of education and experience necessary to indicate that they are competent to teach a given course
  • Commitment to quality teaching and a proven record of teachingexcellence
  • Collaborative skills evidenced by strong working relationships and project skills
  • Minimum 2 years industry experience in relatedfield

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Terminal degree, in a related field, from a regionally accredited institution
  • Record of, or potential for, peer-reviewed publications and faculty qualifications consistent with AACSB Standards
  • Experience with Canvas LMS
